Find your circle
A small group of strangers, maybe all a little nervous, all quietly relieved they aren't the only one, meeting over music, meals and real talk
Luca
Born in Livorno and still rooted there, Luca teaches voice with warmth, patience, and the belief that everyone already has a voice worth sharing.
He’s trained across Tuscany, Florence and Milan, directed the Chorus Accademia Musicale since 2009, and co-written an album along the way. Away from music, he’s also a street artist, bringing the same patience for a shaky brushstroke as a shaky first note.
The Acoustic Breath is the retreat he always wished existed: a space to breathe, sing without fear, and rediscover the joy of making music together.
- Director & singing teacher, Chorus Accademia Musicale, Livorno (since 2009)
- Director, singing course at Accademia Musicale Collesalvetti (since 2024)
- Co-writer, Loud Silence (2012 album)
- Mentor training new singing teachers (since 2015)
- Speaks: Italian & English
Giovanni
Born in Livorno and based in Switzerland since 2015, Giovanni has spent nearly two decades turning streets and squares across 30+ countries into his stage.
Trained at the Musician Institute in Los Angeles, he left a teaching job behind in 2006 to busk his way through Europe, and has since moved between recording in Nashville and impromptu concerts for neighbors during the pandemic.
As he puts it: he’s always been drawn to beautiful things and to sharing them, and music remains the most powerful way he’s found to create both.
- Trained at the Musician Institute, Los Angeles
- Taught guitar at Toni Music City, Livorno, before turning fully professional
- Performed in 30+ countries since 2006
- Recorded in Nashville, arranged by Greg Haver
- Collaborated with brands including Credit Suisse and Volkswagen
- Speaks English & Italian

Questions, answered
Do I need musical experience?
Not at all. No guitar or singing background required, just an openness to try. Guitars are provided, so there’s nothing to prepare in advance beyond your curiosity.
Who is this retreat for?
Anyone who’s always wanted to sing or play guitar and never quite believed they could. No musical background required, no ear for pitch assumed.
What should I bring?
A notebook, for lyrics, thoughts, or whatever the days bring up. A swimsuit for the pool, sandals for around the hotel, and hiking shoes plus a water bottle in case you feel like a walk.
Swimwear and sandals are useful for the pool and wellness areas. Mats and course props are provided. Walking sticks are available subject to availability.
What are the exact timings and routines?
Each day follows a gentle rhythm rather than a fixed schedule; mornings for voice and guitar work, afternoons free, evenings gathered around the Sunset Acoustic Circle.
What language is it in?
The retreat is held in English. Both Luca and Giovanni also speak Italian.
How can I get there?
Please see the instructions below for further information.
What kind of food is served?
The cuisine at Sass da Grüm is vegetarian and vegan, prepared with fresh, high-quality organic ingredients sourced from Ticino. Many of the fruits, vegetables and herbs we serve are grown in our own carefully tended gardens. On Fridays, we also offer fresh fish from Lake Maggiore.
Please let us know about any allergies, intolerances or dietary restrictions in advance.
